History Preservation Chair Abdulmotaleb El Saddik was elected in 2009 IEEE Fellow for contributions to interactive haptic audio visual systems and Fellow of the Canadian Academy of Engineering.
The Canadian Academy of Engineering is the national institution that provides strategic advices on critical issues to Canada and an active member of the International Council of Academies of Engineering and Technological Sciences, which involves 26 major countries. Academy members are elected in view of their achievements and services to the engineering profession.
ACM MM 2010 Publicity chair Yong Rui became one of 58 ACM Distinguished Scientists inducted in 2009 for contribution in multimedia analysis, indexing and retrieval.
